Augusto Meijer will be developing a brand new soundscape, created specifically for Jaap van den Elzen’s new Light art installation which will be one of the participating artworks of FAÇADE 2022, a contemporary art festival in Middelburg.

GLOW is a light art festival which is organised by the GLOW Eindhoven foundation. GLOW can be described as an exhibition in the public space of Eindhoven of 35 famous national and international light artists. The light artworks are connected by a walking route.
Besides the light artworks and numerous side events there are also innovative, unique works of art that are created by young talents.
Shadows & Light
The year’s theme is called ‘Shadows & Light’. “Every picture has its shadows. And it has some source of light. Blindness, blindness and sight”. (Joni Mitchell)
No light without shadows, no image without content. With this year’s theme GLOW 2018 searches for this duality. Effectively, it’s not only about the ultimate contrast between black and white, but also about much and little, inside and outside, restraint and abundance…light and shadow. Within the contradiction, the story is born; there’s no experience without contrast. ‘Shadows’ and ‘Light’ lacking, we would find ourselves in a grey landscape in which life evaporates.
The GLOW mission statement for the coming years is concise and convincing:

“HyperCube” Art Installation

Structural vacancy is an international problem, which includes cities like London, New York or Tokyo. “Ruimtekoers” is a new initiative from a network of urban pioneers based in Arnhem (The Netherlands). They will present a public program from March 14th / April 11th 2015, packed with innovative interventions. The problem of vacancy will be used to bring the city to life. Available spaces are literally lit with green LED lighting and projections. The HyperCube installation is a part of the program.
Hypercube is an art installation in which the viewer is immersed in an audiovisual environment. The cube-shaped space of the Hypercube -surrounded by mirrors and dynamic lightlines- guarantees a stunning multi-sensory experience. Infinite reflections, lack of spatial reference, intense focus, disorientation and a distorted sense of time and space are key. Hypercube gives its own definition of how space can be experienced and adds a new dimension to one of the most cultivated building blocks known to mankind: the Cube. Lichtval is a spatial light installation by Jaap van den Elzen whose shape is loosely based on the elevator cars from the mines. But where the miners entered a world of total darkness, in Lichtval the spectator enters a dynamic space of light. A soundscape has been created exclusively for the installation.

Eindhoven 2010 I 5th Edition I ‘(Re-)Discovering Eindhoven’Due to the dedication of CityDynamiek Eindhoven, from November, 6th to 13th, 2010, the city center of Eindhoven turns again into a forum of interventions, installations, performances and events based on the phenomena of artificial light.
about ‘Fenestra’:
During GLOW Galerie Van de Water and Stichting PEK, Platform Artists from Eindhoven, work together to show light art by young artists from Brabant. Jaap van den Elzen presents his light installation Fenestra for the Don Bosco Square, supported by a soundscape of Augusto Meyer. Van den Elzen uses the windows on the square and transforms them into a layered, spatial composition of light and color. The soundscape enhances the experience by reflecting appropriate materials, emotion and shapes into a world of electronic sound.
Suzanne van Rest shows her installations Space Between Thoughts and Soft Warmth of Southern air. Opening hours from 19.00 – 22.00 hrs.

Bioluminescence is an electroacoustic composition project by Augusto Meijer
The Bioluminescence piece is mainly composed for a sound&light installation exhibited at the Senses exhibition in the Experimentarium, Copenhagen. This is a great opportunity to present electroacoustic music for a young new audience! Augusto Meijer composed an electronic piece for the sound installation.
Are you a super smeller? A taste specialist with ‘power vision’? And why can dogs hear frequencies that you can’t? Experimentarium’s major new temporary exhibition SENSES, which is all about the amazing senses of humans and animals.
We can touch, smell, taste, see and hear the world around us. At the Senses exhibition, you get the chance to test it all and compare your senses with others – both humans and animals.

The sound of Bioluminescence is captured in a wooden structure, designed by Jaap van den Elzen, who also designed an experience of Light for the Exhibition. The Bioluminescence piece is played back via 6 loudspeakers situated around the structure. People who enter this wooden structure are being surrounded by the mystical soundworld of Bioluminescence.
